I like getting rid of things. It’s kind of my hobby. I am firmly in the camp of if I don’t love it and have a recurring need for it, then it doesn’t need to be in my life. It’s a well known fact in my family and has both good and bad qualities. The good? I’m the go to on all things cleaning or organizing related. The bad? I once inadvertently threw away my brothers prized early nineties Steelers jersey as he still reminds me.
However, if you want the hard truth in cleaning out your closet, invite me over. I don’t hold back and will have you free of those body con dresses you think you will fit back into one day in a minute. Liberating.
For this reason I love full moons as much as new ones. Paying close attention to moon phases and what I should be doing during each one feels important and honestly takes some pressure off. It’s nice to know that we don’t have to be responsible for every little thing in our lives, all we need to do is get clear on what we want, stay tapped into that and let the Universe work out the details.
Over time I have found out that the single most important thing is getting clear on what you want. Set your intention then release it into the cosmos. Come back to it daily and let it be your north star as you move throughout your day/week/month/year.
Full moons are considered the best time for finding clarity. The light of the moon represents illumination and a shining of light into all the little corners. What is going on in your life right now? What is working? What isn’t? What is in alignment with your vision and what’s not? Make the necessary adjustments to support your personal intentions.
Don’t have clear vision of what you want? Feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unsure? Now is a good time to explore that as well. Grab a piece of paper, light a candle, create some space and sit down and be still. Focus on your breath and let the mental chatter go. Don't attach to your thoughts, just observe them and let them float by. Once you feel grounded, ask yourself some questions and let the answers flow. Don’t worry about how it sounds, just let your heart lead you and the answers flow without judgement.
- Who do I want to be?
- How do I want to feel?
- What don’t I want?
Write down whatever comes up and see what reveals itself. The simple act of doing this exercise and putting pen to paper can often provide the clarity you were looking for!
Depending on how I am feeling I will sometimes take what I wrote down that I don't want and burn it. As it burns I imagine it leaving my life and disintegrating as I watch the words disappear. A simple, yet powerful act.
