As you get older, you accumulate new scars, both invisible and obvious, that are reminders of all your life stories. On this trip around the sun, I got a few more stories and scars than bargained for.
On the 3rd day of my annual bday vacation, while in Italy I hit a slippery spot and went face down on extremely sharp rocks. My face and entire left side of my body was a MESS. I was in shock when it happened and I’ve been kind of processing it quietly (and dealing with doctors etc) ever since. And though it was/is less than ideal, I’m thankfully, gratefully, fine.
It could have been so much worse. I landed 2 inches above my eye. My wrists, hands and feet are also fine, as the first thing sadly that ran through my mind was, ‘F*&K! What about work??!’ So I’ve spent two weeks off the grid as much as I could be, handling this, and forced to take really good care of myself.
My friends always tell me, Kadi, your face hides nothing. What I’m thinking, what I’m feeling. Well, y’all, after this trip it seems like it will tell a lot more lol. And wow, let me tell you about my friends (the few I told, as I was really trying not to cause a fuss.) Those who cared from near and far (especially Scott, Alexandra and Apollo!). Friends who offered to fly to me! Friends who offered to send me products to help healing! Thank you isn’t enough.
My life is abundant. I am blessed, and highly favored. And I am really glad to be here to celebrate another year with my incredible clients, and this beautiful business that our team has built. Cheers to all of that. See y’all when I get back stateside.
