Partying with a Purpose

By Kadi

For us at Highbrow Hippie, the party season officially kicked off a week after Thanksgiving at the home of Kelly Wearstler, where she graciously hosted Winter Wonderful to benefit the Children’s Action Network (CAN). CAN, founded by Steven Spielberg, wife Kate Capshaw and Henry Winkler, and executive directed by the wonderful Jennifer Perry, is a Los Angeles based charity that uses the power of the city’s entertainment community to increase awareness of children’s issues and to make them a priority in our everyday lives.

For the past 3 years Kadi has been a member of the host committee for this important event, where 44 one of a kind wreaths by Los Angeles’ top artists and designers were auctioned off to support CAN’s work to help find families for more than 114,000 children who are waiting for an adoptive home, and also improving the prospects of the 500,000 plus children in foster care. Attended by over 300 guests including celebrities Virginia Madsen, Terri Hatcher, Marisa Tomei, Nia Vardalos and Sugar Ray Leonard, and design stars Christopher Wicks, Lena Hermansson, Kathryn Ireland, Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, Kirk Nix and many more, this event was the perfect way to put us at Highbrow Hippie in a festive holiday spirit, and remind us once again, how truly grateful we are for the blessings in our lives. Partying with a purpose, indeed.
