Big Dreams

Big Dreams
22 years ago almost to the day (half of my lifetime!), I started my career in this building as a shampoo (and, eventually, color) assistant at Frederic Fekkai. My goodness-the life lessons, the knowledge gained, and the blood, sweat, and tears that happened in this building. PRICELESS. It informs my work ethic to this day, and literally changed my life.

But trust, it was not all roses. I also learned self-belief in that building, because you quickly figure out that some people are limited in their view of what you can achieve based on the makeup of the world around them. And when there are no black hair colorists before you, you either get discouraged, or, you get determined. I chose the latter.

I almost never spend time on the Upper East Side when I come back to NYC for work now, but every few years, I try to come to this spot to reflect and meditate on my goals and my dreams. What a blessing to be able to be inspired by these life experiences.

I’m incredibly proud and excited about what Myka, the team, and I have built and continue to build at Highbrow Hippie. We have so much more in store and can’t wait to share it all.

Until then, wishing everyone BIG dreams.
