A RYT-200 hour certified yoga teacher, Myka has been practicing yoga for over 15 years. The practice of yoga has been instrumental in her life and started her on the spiritual journey that she is on today. In addition to yoga, she is an avid student of meditation and ritual and fully believes that we are responsible for creating our own lives and experiences.
Developed by Aadil Palkhivala, a student of B.K.S. Iyenagar in India from the age of 7, her yoga training is in the lineage of Iyengar and called Purna, which means complete in Sanskrit. For nearly forty years, Aadil has been regarded as a “teacher of teachers,” and many of the world’s top yoga instructors have studied with him. The 4 aspects of the practice are; Safety and Alignment-based Asana, Meditation, Philosophy and Nutrition and Lifestyle; which address all four aspects of our being: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
When we feel lost, sad, confused, stuck, stiff, or are in pain, our bodies are telling us that we have lost contact with the most important part of us, our spirit. We must use our breath, movements, thoughts and feelings to welcome our spirit into our first and most important physical home, our bodies. Yoga teaches the mind, the body, and the emotions how to be at home with the spirit. To be a teacher, you must be a student, so she is always digging deeper into her practice with continuing education, herbalism, crystals and breath work and brings elements of her own practice to each class.
