Before opening Highbrow Hippie, I tried to work outside as much as I can, no matter what salon employed me at the time. Mostly for the natural light, and also for a break from the noise that comes from working in a busy space. Though we consult in the beginning of the appointment, for the most part my clients and I zone out- I give them space to get their work done, and they give me the chance to find my calm center again.
When I first started in the industry I felt the need to always “entertain” and talk. A LOT ;) Now as I get older, I find that I crave the quiet in order to do my best work. We are all so constantly bombarded and stimulated with news, good and bad, so to give each other space sometimes to just be, is the ultimate in self care to me.
